Reactii dupa rushinea cu Portsmouth:
Gerard Houllier last night admitted he expects to be slaughtered following Liverpool's exit from the FA Cup.
The Liverpool boss is expecting a fresh barrage of criticism to head his way after Richard Hughes settled the fifth round replay with a late winner at Fratton Park.
Houllier accepts the result wasn't good enough for the Reds, but he is hoping people look at the performances over the two games and not just the results before launching criticism at him and his players.
He said: "I know I am going to get slaughtered but I do not feel under any more pressure now than I did before the game.
"It is not about me, it's about the team. I personally don't think I can blame my players. Right until the end we could have equalised. But that's football and you have to live with it. It's part of being a big club.
"It has been a difficult season, we were without Michael Owen for three months and other things have gone against us.
"I do think it's unfair to slaughter us though. We wanted to go through and we had the chances to go through. It was a funny game. Looking at the results over the two games we are not happy but looking at the performances we had the chances to win both games.
"We had a great chance with the penalty and it was a shame we didn't take it. It was a difficult pitch and difficult weather conditions but we played pretty well."
