<p><strong>Nasser Al-Attiyah aus Katar hat BMW am 10. Tag der Rallye Dakar den ersten Etappensieg beschert. </strong>Zweiter auf dem 366 Kilometer langen Teilstück um Nema (Mauretanien) wurde der Japaner Hiroshi Masuoka im Mitsubishi Pajero vor Mark Miller (USA), auf Gesamtrang sechs bestplatzierter VW-Pilot. Die Führung in der Gesamtwertung behauptete der Franzose Stephane Peterhansel (Foto) im Mitsubishi, der als Vierter ins Ziel kam. Jutta Kleinschmidt kam pannenfrei durch den Tag.
