<p><strong>Die deutschen Eisschnellläuferinnen haben bei der EM in Klobenstein einen Einbruch erlebt und sind erstmals seit 33 Jahren ohne Medaille bei einer EM geblieben. </strong>Daniela Anschütz-Thoms (Erfurt) kam auf der Freiluftbahn in Südtirol auf Platz vier, Titelverteidigerin Claudia Pechstein (Berlin) enttäuschte als Fünfte. Der Titel ging sensationell an die Tschechin Martina Sablikova, die mit einem Freiluft-Weltrekord von 6:58,45 über 5000 m der Niederländerin Ireen Wüst das greifbarnahe Gold noch entriss.
