Sa ne incalzim putin cu melodii de Beatles sau cam asa ceva ca doar suntem in Liverpool.

All you need is golf memes

The world's top players are in Liverpool, so check out our Beatles-inspired creations

    http://www.pgatour.com/content/dam/p...y-Road-847.jpg

We're not sure if any of the Beatles enjoyed golf, but we do know they at least held golf clubs in their hands at one point in their careers. (Click here for proof).

What we are sure of, however, is that Royal Liverpool Golf Club, site of The Open Championship this week, is just a short drive from the Cavern Club, so synonymous with the Beatles. And that if you fly into Liverpool, you're going through the John Lennon Airport. And that if you want to visit Strawberry Field or Penny Lane, now's your chance.

In short, this week's Open Championship is as good a time as any to celebrate the legendary Fab Four, Liverpool's homegrown stars.

So we've taken a few Beatles songs and lyrics and turned them into golf-related memes to share with your friends on social media. Feel free to join the discussion, either below or on Instagram or Twitter, and send us any golf-related Beatles memes that you've cooked up.

McIlroy pulls away at The Open Championship. Holds six-shot lead as he eyes third leg of career Grand Slam.

Si cand te gandesti ca dupa cupa 12, el si Rickie Fowler erau la egalitate, -12.

    Rory raises his hand

Looking for golf's next dominant superstar? Rory McIlroy is now the leading candidate after winning The Open Championship

HOYLAKE, England – Sunday’s win wasn't without its anxious moment. At one point in the middle of the final round at the 143rd Open Championship, Rory McIlroy looked up and saw that his six-shot lead at the start of the day had been cut to two by Sergio Garcia.

But the moment was fleeting. And did it truly exist? Not even Garcia seemed to think so.

“I got within two,” the Spaniard said, “but to me, it never felt that close.”

Indeed, it never really felt that close all week. McIlroy went wire-to-wire at Royal Liverpool, holding off the hard-charging Garcia and Rickie Fowler with a 1-under 71 to win by two strokes.

McIlroy, who won his first two majors (2011 U.S. Open, 2012 PGA) by eight shots apiece, now owns the iconic Claret Jug for the next 12 months. This victory also gives the 25-year-old Northern Irishman something a little less tangible but equally career-defining -- the third leg of the career Grand Slam.

Only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have gotten there faster, at the ages of 23 and 24, respectively.

“I never dreamed of being at this point of my career this quickly,” McIlroy said Sunday after finishing at 17 under for the week, the fourth-lowest score in Open Championship history.

His first opportunity to complete the Grand Slam will come at the Masters in April. “Looking forward to driving up Magnolia Lane next year,” he said with a smile.

McIlroy now has won his trio of majors by a combined 18 shots. Granted, it sounds like a lot -- but don't forget, Woods beat his nearest challengers by a total of 28 strokes as he won the first three legs of his first -- of three -- career Grand Slams.

Even so, dominance is dominance. And if you insist on finding the “next” Tiger, then Rory is first in line. But McIlroy will tell you he isn't there yet, so let's stop short of anointing him as the heir apparent, and accept Sunday's victory as a major milestone for a player with abundant talent to spare.

Just ask Phil Mickelson, last year’s Open winner who now hands the reins of “Champion Golfer of the Year” to McIlroy.

"We used to say there will never be another Nicklaus, and then along came Tiger," Mickelson said. "You never want to discount the possibility of someone coming along and dominating. But no one has really asserted themselves week-in and week-out the way Tiger did for such a long period of time.

"We'll have great performances, like Rory this week. Like [Martin] Kaymer at the U.S. Open, and so forth. But it's very hard to do that week-in and week-out the way Tiger did.

"That's why it was so impressive."

Sunday's victory was McIlroy's seventh on the PGA TOUR, and it came in his 81st event. By comparison, Woods -- who now has 79 wins, just three shy of tying Sam Snead's all-time mark -- picked up his seventh title in just his 38th pro start at the BellSouth Classic.

Oh, and when Woods played in his 81st tournament, he won for the 20th time. Interestingly, that was the 2000 U.S. Open, which completed his Grand Slam hat trick and landed Woods in the record books for total domination with a 15-stroke win.

McIlroy might not be the next Woods, but perhaps he resembles someone else.

Interestingly, Woods -- who finished a distant 20 shots behind McIlroy -- actually sees more of Mickelson in the 25-year-old right now. He’s probably right. McIlroy is aggressive, fearless even, but like the big left-hander, he can be his own worst enemy when he gets over-eager at times.

"When he gets it going, he gets it going," Woods said. "When it gets going bad, it gets going real bad. It's one or the other. ... Very similar to what Phil does.

"He has his hot weeks and he has his weeks when he's off. And that's just the nature of how he plays the game. It's no right way or wrong way."

Certainly not. Mickelson has gone on to win 42 times and already has a spot in the World Golf Hall of Fame. Running hot and cold is not a bad thing, depending on how many times you run hot. As Fowler said of McIlroy, “When he’s on, he’s definitely one of the best players in the world. And he’s on a lot.”

McIlroy won’t overtake Adam Scott as the world’s top-ranked golfer this week. Those rankings reward consistency, based on a two-year rolling window of results. McIlroy has been No. 1 for 39 weeks in his career, most recently in March 2013. Mickelson, of course, has never been No. 1.

But when those two players have their games cranked up to maximum performance, it’s difficult to imagine anybody else playing better.

"I think his 'A' game right now is pretty much almost unbeatable, which is pretty scary how good he is," said Shane Lowry, who grew up playing against McIlroy on the Emerald Isle. "Yeah, he's only 25 but he's been an unbelievable talent since he was a kid. Anything he does, you're not surprised to see it."

But whether McIlroy will dominate like Woods did for so many years … well, that may be asking for the impossible.

“For every Rory, there's an Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia and a Tiger and a Phil,” said Graeme McDowell. “There's too many good players now. It's so deep. It's so strong. ... It's very hard to dominate, to dominate the way [Tiger] did. Someone like Rory or Adam maybe could do it. They're that good. But so is everyone else."

Whether McIlroy turns out to be the next Tiger – or the next Phil – won’t be determined for a few years now. But with three majors at age 25, he’s in better position than anybody else.

And the thing to remember about Rory is that he wants that challenge.

“Golf is looking to someone to put their hand up and try,” said McIlroy, who has won a major in three of the past four years. “I want to be the guy who goes on and wins majors and wins majors regularly, wins tournaments. I’ve love to be in that position.”

On Sunday during the winner’s ceremony at Royal Liverpool, Rory McIlroy raised his hand. Specifically, his right hand – the one that was holding aloft the Claret Jug.
