Florent Amodio (born May 12, 1990) is a French figure skater. He is the 2010 French national champion and the 2008 Junior Grand Prix Final Champion.

As of April 2010[update], he was ranked 29th in the world by the International Skating Union (ISU)

Personal life

Amodio was born in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil and adopted as an infant by a French couple. He was raised in Fremainville, Val-d'Oise. He holds both French and Brazilian citizenship.

In addition to his skating career, Amodio is studying for a coaching diploma.
Career

Amodio began skating at the age of 4 and has been coached by Bernard Glesser since then. At the age of 12, he was diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter disease, which left him unable to skate for 18 months. He returned to competition in 2004 and first represented France internationally in 2005.

After finishing third and first at his 2008-9 JGP events, Amodio won the 2008-2009 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in his fourth and final season on the circuit. He later had a disappointing 15th place showing at Junior Worlds and was 10th in his only senior international event of the season, the World Team Trophy.

Amodio began the 2009-10 season by winning the French Masters. He later made his senior Grand Prix debut at the 2009 Rostelecom Cup, where he placed 9th, and came in 4th at the 2009 Skate America, missing out on a medal by less than a point.

Amodio performed in his first Olympic competition in the 2010 Vancouver Games on February 16, 2010.

eu astept sa le vad mai bine inregistrate. e probabil s aimi placa mai mult atunci. dar cel putin in ceea ce priveste lpul, pe mine ma deranjeaza lipirea diferitelor melodii care nu prea au legatura unele cu altele. dar florent e un patinator care chiar are muzicalitate si s-ar putea sa reuseasca sa vanda programul. vom vedea.

si Sarah e mai inalta decat el, deci nu are cum ca Amodio sa aiba 165 de cm. Sigur e mai mic de inaltime, sau de fericire "a intrat la apa"

Un interviu interesant cu Florent, sunt de apreciat sinceritatea debordanta si spontaneitatea raspunsurilor

-Sometimes, journalist name you as "the New Joubert".What things you consider you can learn from him?.
A lot of things he 's the big champion and he learn me a lot about the high level and maybe things to do to be the best i dont want to copy for sure but he s a great guy and its so good to got champion like this in france ! its help me to grew up
-And..what things you think you have that Joubert´s didn´t at your age?.
we are not the same for sure i prefer dance and have fun with the public instead to do quad but i want to get better on everything ! he make different choice for him he got a lot of medal so we can say whatever we want but he s world champion european champion he s great maybe he dont go out a lot of his club but its his decision , for me i try to do the best thing to be the best .
-Some time ago you commented that "you feel quadruple is becoming a required element",
Do you keep on thinking the same? Are you trying to include it in your programs?
for sure its required ! i try to do this quad sal and i start to work on quad toe but its so hard

anyway i keep going and im sure with a lot of work i will do it !
-After these first months of the season, how do you feel about your
programs and the results achieved in competitions in which have you participated?
the first important things for me was the reaction of the judges and the audience and it was so great so i was so happy with nikolai to make theses great program
sure in free there is many stop but its changes i try to dance on the ice , M.J its hard to do ! the other thing was my regularity on my jumps and its the first year that in every competition im so strong in my brain and i almost do the same everytime and its the most important in figure skating !
-What do you think about new isu rules? Dou you think it really influences the results or not?
i dont care i can't do anything to change that , so i work in this direction and rules are rules that's it !
i try to be the best on every part ( jump , dance , spins .. )so for me there is still a lot of work !
-What do you feel with a European Gold medal?
WOW ! that' it ! i can't imagine seriously
its so big for me to be european champion
my dream come true and i worked a lot so im happy and i just have to work again and again

-How about your experiencie in Eric Bompard Thophy? When you skate in your country...do you feel more motivated or mored pressed?
you're right its so special , but its amazing to skate for my country in my coutry , i love france and audience was crazy i skate so good so i like to skate in my country but you're right its litle bit more pressed haha

-Girls think you are a very handsome boy,Have you thought to work like model occasionally, as another skaters have been?

for me i want to show my style , my feelings , what i like , the music which all the new generation listening ..
so i choose music , we adapt with the coach and after he make the program with my opinion on every step !
