Third-seeded Maria Kirilenko of Russia was ousted from the Japan Open on Monday, losing to Akiko Morigami of Japan 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3). Kirilenko was the only seeded player in action on the opening day of the $940,000 tournament for men and women. Top-ranked Roger Federer has a first-round bye and will play Wednesday against Spain's Fernando Vincente or a qualifier.
