    IndyCar Series 2009

    Sezonul 2009 al campionatului IndyCar va debuta pe 4 aprilie in St.Petersburg (Florida), in total fiind programate 18 curse, dupa cum urmeaza:

    Marco Andretti si-a prelungit contractul cu echipa Andretti Green Racing, dupa ce a incheiat pe locul 7 sezonul 2008.

    "I'm really looking forward to 2009 at Andretti Green Racing," said Andretti. "As a team, we have a lot to prove next year and I want to be a big part of that.

    "I learned a lot last year that I can build on going forward and I have every reason to believe that we can be a factor all year long."

    Pilotul venezuelean, Ernesto Viso (23 ani), a anuntat ca ramane pentru inca un sezon la echipa HVM Racing. Acesta a incheiat stagiunea 2008 pe locul 18, fiind al cincilea in ierarhia debutantilor.

    Altfel, patronul echipei HVM, Keith Wiggins, a anuntat ca in 2009 va alinia pe grila IndyCar Series doua monoposturi, numele celui de-al doilea pilot nefiind inca anuntat.

    Adversar declarat al fuziunii dintre ChampCar si IRL, Sebastien Bourdais a declarat ca ia in calcul revenirea in America si nu oriunde, ci in seria IndyCar, daca si numai daca Toro Rosso il va lasa in afara grilei din 2009 in F1.

    "I'm pretty open," he told Autosport. "Right now I need a good programme and America would be an interesting option.

    "I have been looking at alternatives (to F1) because that's my job. I need to find a way to make a living, but that's not easy right now - everybody is not willing to commit to any programmes."

    TR nu il vor lua. Au nevoie de piloti cu bani, si Bourdais si Sato au declarat ca din cauza problemelor financiare se tot amana anuntul, deci daca LeSeb nu gaseste cateva milioane rapid, e cam ciao. In Indycar nu vad unde ar putea ajunge. Si acolo e nevoie de bani. Newman Haas l-au lasat balta pe Wilson, si deocamdata il vor arunca in lupta doar pe Graham. Totusi sperante pentru Bourdais sunt. Nu uitati de probleme lui Castroneves cu legea. Daca Penske l-ar lua pe Bourdais vom avea o noua hegemonie.

    Intr-adevar etapa din Detroit a fost scoasa din calendarul sezonului 2009 din cauza de acum obsedantei crize ecoonomice mondiale.

    “The current economic climate is a challenge for all of us, but as we look ahead to 2009 and beyond we remain bullish on the opportunities ahead for the unified IndyCar Series. Any decision on what we might do with a valuable asset like a Labor Day race weekend either short or long-term will not be decided upon quickly.”

    After a six-year absence, IndyCar racing returned to Detroit in 2007 and staged two successful events on the island course, each attracting more than 100,000 spectators.

    Pentru cei carora le e lene sa citeasca tot articolul...

    -Probleme lui Castroneves cu legea, i-au facut pe cei de la Penske sa renunte la el. Power, Wilson si Hunter Reay sunt candidatii cei mai seriosi pentru un loc.
    -Newman Haas il vor anunta oficial pe Robert Doornbos, si cauta sponsori pentru nimeni altul decat Sebastien Bourdais.
    -KV Racing au nevoie de banii lui Mario Moraes pentru a-i inlocui pe Servia si Power
    -Famila Phillipe au cumparat echipa lui Marty Roth si ii vor arunca in lupta pe fratii Nelson si Richard Phillipe.

    Dar ce spui de Bourdais? Sa revina el in Indy, tocmai in campionatul pe care l-a criticat cel mai aspru dupa 'unificarea' de catifea ?

    Si Bourdais si Paul Tracy si Paul Newman au spus multe lucruri negative despre IRL in trecut. Au fost piloti si echipe anti-irl dar Champ Car nu mai exista, asa ca nimeni nu ar avea nimic de pierdut daca IRL ar creste. Din cate stiu eu, in mai Paul Newman a trimis scrisori semnate de el si de Roger Penske tuturor celor care au renuntat la biletele de la Indy 500 in 1996 rugandu-i sa vina la cursa.

    Oricum nu vad cum ar putea cei de la NHL sa aibe capitalul necesar de a arunca in lupta 3 monoposturi. Ma refer aici la Rahal, Doornbos si Bourdais, daca Doornbos va fi intr-adevar anuntat oficial la echipa.

    Pending ... am văzut că ai scris într-un mesaj mai sus că Helio Castroneves are probleme cu legea
    la ce anume te referi ?

    E acuzat de evaziune fiscala. In SUA treaba asta e grava de tot. Se pare ca e dator statului american cu cateva milioane bune. E de inteles ca Penske nu vrea sa fie asociat cu asa ceva. A fost dat afara de si din echipa din IRL si si-a pierdut si locul in echipa de 24 de ore de la Daytona. In cazul care va scapa va reveni, daca nu si-a incheiat cariera. Imi pare rau de el dar e vina lui...

    Tracy racing to IndyCar return

    Paul Tracy inched a step closer to a triumphant return to IndyCar racing yesterday.

    The 2003 Champ Car World Series champion is in serious talks with KV Racing Technology about taking over their Indy Racing League car from Will Power who yesterday signed a deal to move to the 14-time Indy 500 winning Penske Racing team for 2009.

    He'll replace Helio Castroneves, who faces a criminal trial on charges he evaded taxes on income of $5.5 million US.

    KVRT co-owner Jimmy Vasser told Sun Media yesterday he is actively negotiating with Tracy and is seeking American and Canadian corporate support to help make the deal happen.

    "I definitely think that PT has a few good years left in him," Vasser said. "I know he has some sponsors that he is working on. I just thought it would be a good idea if we worked together."

    Vasser, who is also a former CART series champion (1996), said that Tracy's fourth-place finish at the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton in 2008 showed the 40-year-old still has the will and talent to win at the top levels of open wheel racing.

    It doesn't hurt either, Vasser said, that Tracy's personality -- love him or hate him -- would be a terrific draw not only in the races at Edmonton and Toronto but across the IRL calendar.

    "I think the series needs him," he said.

    Vasser said that even if he is only able to put together a partial sponsorship package for Tracy it might be enough to get the "Thrill from West Hill" back in the series.

    "If we can get a certain percentage done for PT ourselves we could maybe take it to (the IRL) to see if they can help," he said.

    The current economic climate is an obstacle to getting a deal good enough to lure Tracy away from pursuing other forms of racing, most notably the NASCAR Camping World Truck series.

    Vasser said that KVRT is also trying to line up sponsors for Oriol Servia, who drove the second team entry -- partially funded out of Vasser and co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven's pockets -- in 2008.

    As a result Vasser said that the team, unless both Tracy and Servia came up with enough sponsorship, will only field one car this season.

    "We are not in a position to fund (both) efforts without some backing," he said. "Whichever I can get done first is the one I will go with."

    Tracy's deal, however, appears to be further advanced than that of Servia.

    Another thing in Tracy's favour is the return of the po****r Honda Toronto Indy in July.

    "We sure would welcome any inquiries from Canadian companies who would like to come on board," Vasser said.

    Daca s-ar concretiza, atunci am avea o grila frumoasa. Plus ca sunt sanse sa-l revedem si pe Bourdais.

    It's been a select fraternity over the past 26 years and it's featured Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Paul Tracy, Bruno Junqueira, Sebastien Bourdais, Christian Fittipaldi, Cristiano da Matta, Justin Wilson, Oriol Servia and Graham Rahal.

    For as long as the late Paul Newman, Carl Haas and Mike Lanigan fielded cars in CART and the IRL, they were able to hire the best drivers, as evidenced by that impressive list.

    The winningest team of the past 20 years in open wheel racing has never gone with a rider buyer but, in these challenging economic times, that's about to change.

    Boy, is that about to change.
    Tineti-va bine. Bine de tot. Doornbos se indreapta catre Newman Haas Lanigan, prefect logic, insa pe langa el, Rahal va mai avea un coechipier. Nu, nu este vorba despre Bourdais, este vorba de....Milka Duno.

    Marele Paul Newman nu cred ca se odihneste prea bine acum. Va dati seama in ce stare se afla sportul asta daca Newman Haas e nevoita sa recurga la astfel de cascadorii? Paul Tracy, Servia, Tagliani, Hunter-Reay, Justin Wilson, sunt someri, iar Milka Duno ajunge la una dintre cele mai prestigioase echipe din lume. E cam trist...

    Pai nu prea trebuie sa fim foarte mirati de mutarea asta. Seamana foarte mult cu ce se intampla in societatea romaneasca, unde oamenii valorosi nu au loc de oportunisti, pupin...dosieri si asa mai departe. Pana la urma se pare ca aceleasi cutume sunt aplicate cam peste tot, indiferent ca vorbim de Romania sau de mult visatul taram al Statelor Unite.

    Dumy, intotdeauna au existat 'pilosi' in motorsport. Tommy Kendall a zis odata ca Motorsportul este singurul sport in care talentul nu iti garanteaza nimic. SI Doornbos ii are pe ING in spate, ceea ce e remarcabil ca o banca poate da atatia bani in zilele noastre. E clar ca singurele echipe din IRL care nu au probleme financiare sunt AGR, bani de la Honda si Penske, care inca mai primeste destul de mult de la Phillip Morris, culorile au ramas aceleasi ca atunci cand scria Marlboro pe sidepoduri. Dar totusi. Duno la NHL este ca si cum ar fi semnat Yuji Ide cu Ferrari sau McLaren. Pe langa faptul ca o droaie de piloti valorosi sunt fara volan, poate fi chiar periculos. Deasemea, sunt Duno si Danica dar nici un pilot canadian in campionat. Au de gand sa se prezinte la Edmonton si Toronto fara Tracy sau Tagliani?

    Problema e ca in afara de Indy 500, Long Beach si Texas, cred, nici o cursa nu va mai fi transmisa pe ESPN, ci pe un canal obscur care ajunge la foarte putina lume. De aici una din probleme. Deasemenea Tony George se pare ca si-a pierdut interesul si nu mai ajuta echipele. De aici intrebarea de ce a pornit un razboi daca nu vrea sa fie rege?! Pentru urmatoarea generatie de sasiuri TG i-a trimis la plimbare pe Panoz, Lola, Swift si orice alt constructor in afara de Dallara. In aceste conditii italienii pot face ce vor, neavand concurenta. S-a zvonit in urma cu cateva luni ca Roger Penske ar putea fi interesat sa cumpere intregul circ de la TG. Asta ar fi singura salvare in opinia mea.
