    English Forum: the beginning

Since summer 2007 the group of the (Romanian) gymnastics fans on this forum significantly increased. We discovered each other here, we made friends, and, hopefully, we'll see each other soon at the Nationals in June.

We are aware, however, that there are even more fans of Romanian gymnastics outside Romania. This is quite clear from the great number of sites and forums dedicated to our gymnasts. Most of the information on the World cup competitions and other meets can actually be found on these sites.

We are really grateful for this and, as a result, we thought that it might be also nice to welcome these people here, "at home", on our forum. Maybe some of them are already users, maybe others only have a look from time to time at what we write...for all of them we made this part of the forum where we can share our opinions. We started with a thread and, if you find this useful, we can make a whole English subforum for this It's entirely up to you.

    Welcome and enjoy!

Because now we have a least a member on this forum, I will summarize here what we discussed in the last days:

    1. Marian Dragulescu's problem seems to be less critical as everybody thought. Acording to an article in Cotidianul (http://www.cotidianul.ro/index.php?i...ash=9dcfab8f8d) he is going to have a surgery in the US (in Las Vegas), which should get him back on track within 3 weeks. The time is now his worst enemy, taking into account that the surgery should be an easy one.

    2. Larisa Andreea Iordache is one of our big hopes for OG 2012! Described as a "New Nadia" in Jurnalul National (http://www.jurnalul.ro/articole/1190...=ro&lr=lang_ro), Larisa was born on 19th June 1996 and her dream is to become like Nadia.
She is the 2007 Romanian champion, started doing gymnastics at Dinamo Bucharest and now she trains with the other juniors in Onesti, with the junior national team coaches Daniel Nistor and Aurica Nistor, with Cristi and Lacramioara Moldovan.

Here there are two of her exercises (2007):
    FX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFbOZvKZPoE&NR=1
    BB: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvY6o...eature=related

    3. European Championships this year in France: what are the medal chances for Romania? (taking into account that Vanessa Ferrari's performance wasn't too great in the last months, that the french girls improved a lot and will be at home, but also that Zgoba and Tweedle will not be there...)

Thank you Ioana for the news. Welcome Martina!
I am not sure if you expect an answer, but here you go my bid: Steliana Nistor - gold BB, silver UB. Sandra Izbasa gold FX, bronze BB, Cerasela Patrascu -bronze UB. Romanian Team - silver.

yes, I intended to open a discussion

I will put mine (although it's not much different than yours):
    Romania-gold
    Steliana-gold (BB), silver (UB)
Sandra-gold (FX), bronze (BB)-maybe shared with Gabriela Dragoi
I do not know about Cerasela...I have a feeling that Vanessa will get the bronze on UB.

    Well, mines are:

Romania-gold/silver (it depends on the girls' performances...if they hit, it will be gold)
Steliana- gold (BB-if she hits), silver-UB
Sandra- gold FX (if she hits her routine)
another medal on BB, Sandra or Dragoi, it depends on how recovered Sandra is and in how much difficulty Dragoi added to her routine (given the fact that we haven't seen her BB performances since last year)
I don't think Cerasela can medal on bars unless she prepares us some surprises

Nobody else wants to "get in the game"? Based on the above, Steliana returns home from Euro as a hero! I can not wait to see her happy smile!

According to two different articles published in Prosport, there will be a team competition held in Salonic, Greece.

On the women side, Romania will be represented this week-end by Anamaria Tamarjan, Cerasela Patrascu, Gabriela Dragoi, Alina Stanculescu and Dana Druncea (so good news about Druncea and Stanculescu!!!!)
On the men side, Romania will be represented this week-end (in Budapest) and next week (in Greece) by Cosmin Malita, Adrian Bucur, Alin Jivan, Robert Stanescu, Ovidiu Buidoso and Dan Potra.

    Good luck to our gymnasts!!!!!!!!

Dana Sofronie is working at County Sport Comitee in Constanta (Directia Judeteana de Sport)– her home town – where she is a student of University. On February 12, 2008 she turned 20 years old. The local newspaper Telegraf mentioned that a party has been held for Dana’s B-day at her work place.

Talking about old glories and having Martina with us I would like to ask if anyone has any news about Maxi Gnauk?

I found an article from Libertatea about Dana Sofronie. It looks like she works as a coach and she wants to discover a new gymnast like Simona Amanar or Catalina Ponor. She has a group of 6 girls and 4 of them are very talented.

isn't this an older article, Mihai? I think I've seen it before...that's why I asked if she coaches.
