<p><strong>Die Dallas Mavericks gehen gehandicapt in die am 31. Oktober beginnende Saison der National Basketball Association (NBA). </strong>Das Team von Dirk Nowitzki muss in den ersten beiden Begegnungen auf Forward Josh Howard verzichten, der am Freitag von der Liga für zwei Pflichtspiele gesperrt wurde. Howard war am Dienstag beim 101:99-Sieg im Vorbereitungsspiel gegen die Sacramento Kings aufs Feld gestürmt und hatte Kings-Center Brad Miller von hinten auf den Kopf geschlagen. Dagegen wird der deutsche Nationalspieler Nowitzki nach Aussage von Team-Besitzer Mark Cuban auch zukünftig das Trikot der Texaner tragen.
