Deutsches Boot startet beim Meeres-Marathon Volvo Ocean Race

<p><strong>Sportartikelhersteller Puma wird mit einem eigenen Boot beim 10. Volvo Ocean Race im Oktober 2008 starten. </strong>Das gab das Unternehmen aus Bayern bei der Präsentation des Puma Racing Teams in Boston bekannt. ,,Das Volvo Ocean Race ist für uns das Top-Event und wird nicht umsonst als der Mount Everest des Segelns bezeichnet. Wir wollen auf jeden Fall ganz vorne mitmischen", sagte Geschäftsführer Jochen Zeitz, der in die Kampagne nach eigener Aussage einen zweistelligen Millionenbetrag investiert. Heimathafen des Bootes wird Newport im US-Bundesstaat Rhode Island sein. Skipper ist der Amerikaner Ken Read, der bereits zwei Mal beim America's Cup gestartet ist.
