In 2002, Constantina Tomescu-Dita was as hot as anybody on the roads. At the Peachtree 10K, she posted a Romanian record of 31:14 for second place behind Lornah Kiplagat's course record. The following weekend in Utica, NY, it was another Romanian record of 48:28 as she won the 15K race. She is the Romanian National road record holder for the 5K, 10K, 15K, Half Marathon and the Marathon.

Wrapping up her U.S. road session, she returned to Romania with her husband and began preparation for a fall marathon. Along the way, she set a Romanian Half Marathon record for an unaided course, with a stellar 1:08:10. A time of 15:09 in a 5K road race brought her to the Amsterdam Marathon ready to run. In line with her training and summer efforts, Tomescu-Dita posted another great time of 2:23:54, for second place behind Gete Wami's Ethiopian record.

Showing no lapse, she kicked off 2003 by cutting her personal best down to 2:23:43 in London. After leading for much of the race, Tomescu-Dita continued her hot streak in October at The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, setting a new personal record of 2:23:35 in second place.

2004 started yet another successful running season for Tomescu-Dita. Returning as the defending champion at Peoria's Steamboat Classic, Tomescu-Dita placed an impressive third. On August 22nd Tomescu-Dita ran the Olympic Marathon in Athens. In extremely hot, humid weather she placed twentieth with a time of 2:37:31.The week before returning to Chicago she ran the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi, India and placed third in 1:09:07. Although sick with a heavy cold, at The 2004 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, Tomescu-Dita prevailed against a strong female field to win in a time of 2:23:45.

Tomescu-Dita has had a strong season in 2005, placing second at the Flora London Marathon in a new personal and Romanian national record (2:22:50), first at the 2005 Steamboat Classic (20:47) and winning the Bronze Medal at the IAAF World Championships in Helsinki (2:23.19).
