<p><strong>Der Berliner Jens Voigt hat bei der Kalifornien-Radrundfahrt seinen zweiten Platz in der Gesamtwertung verteidigt, aber 18 Sekunden auf Spitzenreiter Levi Leipheimer verloren. </strong>Die fünfte Etappe, ein Einzelzeitfahren, beendete Voigt am Freitag (Ortszeit) hinter dem Amerikaner als Zweiter. Leipheimer siegte in 29:40.44 Minuten vor Voigt (29:58.51).
