<p><strong>Aserbaidschan wird sich um die Austragung der Olympischen Sommerspiele 2016 bewerben.</strong> Diese Entscheidung gab Staatspräsident Ilham Alijew (Foto) bekannt. Der Regierungschef, der auch Vorsitzender des Nationalen Olympischen Komitees AOC ist, will bei einer Absage auch für die Spiele 2020 kandidieren. Aserbaidschans Konkurrenten für 2016 sind momentan die USA, Italien, Indien, Japan, Brasilien und Spanien. Die Entscheidung über die Vergabe fällt das Internationale Olympische Komitee (IOC) 2009. Die nächsten Sommerspiele finden 2008 in Peking und 2012 in London statt.</p><div style="margin: 5px 0 5px 0; font: 10px arial; color: #999; clear: both;">
