La foto de Figo junto a José Sócrates antes de las elecciones legislativas de septiembre de 2009 puede salirle cara al ex jugador. Según el rotativo luso Correio da Manh?, "Figo está siendo investigado por apoyar al Partido Socialista, puesto que existe una queja de la Entidad de las Cuentas al Ministerio Público sobre la financiación ilegal de los socialistas".
