Según el portal de noticias ''Elcomercio.pe'', además del fallecido, identificado como Pastor Sandoval, quien sufrió la mutilación de sus piernas durante el choque, hay otro herido grave en esta jornada en la que se corría el tramo Sapotal-Chulucanas (capital de la provincia de Morropón, en la región de Piura).
