Las víctimas del dopaje de la RDA han anunciado manifestaciones de protesta durante los Mundiales. No están de acuerdo con que el Comité Olímpico Alemán y la Federación Alemana de Atletismo hayan amnistiado en la práctica a los responsables confesos de haber dopado a los atletas. Entre ellos hay cinco técnicos: Rainer Pottel, Gerhard Boetcher, Klaus Schneider, Maria Ritschel y Klaus Baarck.
