Sobre el posible traspaso del defensa central de su equipo al conjunto azulgrana, Lucescu dijo que "me vino a ver para pedirme que le dejase ir al Barça. El entrenador del Shaktar aclaro que "entiendo al jugador, porqué a mí me pasó lo mismo cuando era jugador en Rumanía. Cuando un equipo como el Barça te quiere, no puedes decirle que no. "Entiendo al jugador, porqué quiere ir al Barça con todas sus fuerzas. ?Quién no querría? Todos los futbolistas del planeta querrían. También entiendo la necesidad de vender que pueda tener el club, entiendo al Barça... todo. El Barça va hacer un grandísimo fichaje".
