Intr-adevar Irina, ii place sa patineze, l-am urmarit in show-ul din Koreea, era fericit.

Olympia gold was original 2010 in Vancouver its large goal. But Lambiel had changed the coach bottom plate and had moved temporarily into the USA. Now “he longs for adventures”, wants to be artistically active, “the world discovers himself” and an academic career to consider. In Berne he explained however also:“If I am by hundred percent healthy, consider I it me perhaps again. But in this moment there is no return for me. “

Figure skating-Former world champion Lambiel quits

Twice world champion Stephane Lambiel announced his retirement from competitive skating on Thursday.
The 23-year-old Swiss said his decision was prompted by a persistent thigh injury sustained at the 2008 world championships which stopped him training at the highest level.
"I have not been in the position to train at 100 percent," said the 2005 and 2006 world champion who also won silver at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
"You can only win when you are fully fit but my body does not allow that any more," Lambiel told reporters.
Lambiel has frequently criticised skating's new points system with its increased emphasis on athletics at the expense of artistry.
He said on Thursday the new requirements placed more burden on skaters' bodies.
Lambiel added he would continue to take part in non-competitive gala events.

Two-time world champion succumbs to persistent groin injury

By Lynn Rutherford, special to icenetwork.com
(10/16/2008) - Stéphane Lambiel, the two-time Swiss world champion renowned for his masterful spins and dynamic musical interpretation, announced his retirement from competitive skating on Thursday.

Lambiel said his decision was prompted by a persistent left abductor (groin) injury that has troubled him since the 2008 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden this March.

"I have not been in the position to train at 100 percent," the 23-year-old told assembled reporters in Bern. "You can only win when you are fully fit, but my body does not allow that any more."

Lambiel added that the requirements of the International Judging System (IJS) contributed to his decision, saying it put great stress on skaters' bodies.

"My injury hurts not only when I do certain jumps, but also in some of my spin positions," the skater, who also won the silver medal at the 2006 Olympics, explained.

Lambiel has withdrawn from his two fall ISU Grand Prix events, Skate Canada and Trophée Eric Bompard. He will continue to perform in shows.

While Lambiel's retirement -- like world champion Jeffrey Buttle's in September -- took the skating world off-guard, it comes as no great surprise to anyone who has watched his recent practice sessions at Wayne, New Jersey's Ice Vault Arena.

Training with coach Galina Zmievskaya, the skater's step sequences and on-ice charisma were intact, but his jumps were missing.

"The rotation is there but my legs feel weak. I am doing what I can do; I cannot rush things, because of my injury," he said at the time.

Since placing fifth in Gothenburg, Lambiel has been unable to fully train his competitive programs, including a new free skate set to Astor Piazzolla's dramatic "Otoño Porteño" tango. After Gothenburg, he took several weeks off before competing at the Japan Open in April. In May, he left long-time mentor Peter Grütter to train with Zmievskaya and 1992 Olympic champion Petrenko for 10 days, then returned to Switzerland for more therapy.

At the end of June, he re-joined Zmievskaya in Wayne, only to leave five weeks later when his injury flared up again. At times, he could hardly walk.

"It is a very old injury, I had it at worlds," he said. "My doctors told me I had to stop skating for some weeks and do a lot of physiotherapy.

"Right now, I am practicing, but I take a lot of time to take care of my injury. I tape it up before practicing; I skate with support pants to get the muscle tight. I ice it after practice and I use an electro machine to relax it. It's a big process."

Lambiel sought help from a specialist in Munich, who prescribed homeopathic shots to relax the muscle. The skater also consulted a chiropractor and had regular massage treatments. Curiously, none of this affected his performing schedule, including shows in Japan in September and a gala event in Italy earlier this month.

"I always consult my doctor before I do shows and get the green light," Lambiel explained. "He says, 'Do only the things that don't hurt you.' I know what the problem is and I know what jumps hurt the abductor. But a competition program is much harder; you can't just skate with two feet on the ice and move your arms."

In January 2007, there were already signs that Lambiel may have had enough. He shocked members of his inner circle by withdrawing from the European Championships -- an event he has never won -- citing burnout and fatigue.

"I must stand back; the inner fire is not there," he said at the time. "I need time to rebound and have new experiences. I rule nothing out."

Two months later, Lambiel returned to competition at the world championships, winning the bronze medal with a free program that included two quadruple toe loops.

Just two weeks ago, at the training session in Wayne, he denied he was once again considering retirement: "The desire is here. If I had no desire, I would definitely not be here, because there are a lot of things I can do at home."

Evidently, careful consideration of his injury made the skater change his mind yet again.

HEALTH COMES FIRST

For a few months, it has been bad. “I am below my capacities: in jumps, on the level of the spins, in figures where the adductors are in contraction.”
His gala's programms? Perhaps, he will show modified, those which he had provided for this season: “Summertime” by Gershwin and an Argentinian tango of Astor Piazzolla. Salome Brunner and Antonio Najarro, his choreographers, will be always there. “The objective No 1, it is to find all my physical capacities. I look after for that. Later, the objective is to work on new choreographies, where I will propose all my creativity and my energy. I always want to move with my skating.”
Like Edith Piaf, the Valaisan regret anything. “I'm 23 years old, it is the perfect age to have a future.” Then: “I have come true my child's dream, which was to be one day at the top. I am twice world champion. I am Olympic silver. It is great!” Stephane Lambiel has worked the red light in a good moment. Before the physical decadence and being in the middle of figure skating. “One day, perhaps I will say myself, thank you to have listened your body. I think that it what arrives, have arrived to me. I am without another concern, nor distresses.”
The emotion still gains him. Before to leave, he says: “There will a lot of moms very, very sad.”

What did affect your decision of retirement after having exiled yourself to US?

It was a super experience to work with Viktor and Galina. They listened to my injury, my body. They are not just interested in making money. But when you are not able to stand the load of training work, you should change your goals.

When did you make the decision to stop?

It took many hours of thinking, but when the body does not listen any more the decision was, in the end, clear. In ten years, I will thank myself for it. There are many champions who have problems with hips. I would like my health to be 100%.

What is problem with your adductor?

It is lack of balance, which causes discomfort on the muscle. The adductor muscle is always under pressure, and then it becomes chronic. I consulted the best doctors and they told me I should be careful.

Where will you live now?

Not necessarily in Switzerland. Right now, I need to travel, live adventures. But later, I will perhaps live in Switzerland.

Who was the most important person in your career?

My parents. They gave me the strength to carry out all that. They were always with me, at my side.

What is your best memory?

The Olympics in Torino. It was a competition full of emotions.

Do you think the injury you suffer is the result of an overload of work?

All skaters who reach the top level begin at a young age. Elite sport in general is like that. I do not know an athlete who went through his entire career without an injury.

- Besides titles, what do you appreciate the most in your career?

Let me give you example from Japan. I am leaving each time with a box full of touching letters. It is very moving.

- When did you decide to put an end to the competition?

Saturday, after the gala in Milan. I had this idea in my mind for several weeks, but after Milan, everything has become clearer. I have not taken this decision after a bad night. I thought long. This announcement is only the result of seven months. I did not have the means to achieve my goals. I was always listening to my body, my desires, my head. Right now, my body tells me to stop. I do not want in 10 years, not be able to go skiing because my hip hurts me. I want to be able to do jogging without having a limp after 20 minutes ... I am an athlete who loves the competition and I enjoyed it during my career.

- It’s logical you will miss competitions

A new life begins for me. At 23, my future is ahead of me. There will be no more adrenaline of the competition but the desire to skate is still there. As soon as my health allows me, I'll take up work. This is not as if I was training for the Olympics. I simply want to create. I will work with several choreographers. I want to work on programs that will enable me to do new things. But before that, I plan trips, while continuing treatment for my leg. The future belongs to me. I will do what I want.

Regret?

In no case. We should not have regrets when it comes to our health. I know that in the future, I will be pleased to have listened to my body. The dreams I had as a child, I fulfilled them. I became world champion twice, I won a silver medal at the Games, I think I can say that my career has been filled.

Will you miss competition?

Of course. It’s impossible to be elite skater and not love competition. Now I turn this page of my life, I open another book and I am delighted.

You mentioned an injury to the adductor. How does it affect you on ice?

I can not work with 70% of my abilities; this is in obvious conflict with the sport. I saw many specialists and nobody could provide a miracle cure. In these circumstances, it is pointless to persevere, knowing that the injury causes that the level of needed training is lower. The doctor told me that if I do not feel pain, I could continue.

You will now concentrate solely on the gala?

My intention is to fully regain my physical abilities. Then I will be free to express my passion with more freedom. I want to be clear, I always love skating, there is no question of leaving the ice, I'll just practice in a different way and galas offer me that opportunity.

What about your cooperation with Victor Petrenko in the USA?

We will keep in touch and possibly collaborate on future programs in galas. I want to explore new territories, I want to present a program of ten minutes without having problems with it, I want to create new choreography.

Stephan Lambiel keeps his fire. But since his retirement has been announced yesterday morning small pieces of melted ice are circling in the air. The athlete has gone. The artist stays. And the man.

Some questions are repeated. I loved what Cedric Monod said, I think he really hit the point.

"Staphan’s future is in gala performances. There he feels the best, has the most to share. He feeds on the energy of the public, he needs its love. I often saw him before the gala a little bit tired, but when he went to the ice his eyes were shining, he was transformed".

Lambiel range ses patins
Patinage artistique

Se pare ca nici viata in State nu a fost asa cum si-ar fi dorit(potrivit jurnalistilor..nu e sigur ca Steph a declarat asa ceva):

Why is demanded, he must imitate Johnny Weir’s spins? Soon is clear, that not Petrenko is his coach, but Galina Zmievskaya, a soviet-style figure skating general. She can also punish skaters. When flip is bad, you get no dessert. Her son-in-law Petrenko decides up to here nothing without her.

Maybe last drop, what pushed Lambiel to his decision was planning of Trophee Eric Bompard. While Zmievskaya could not to be there with him, only Petrenko, had Lambiel a wish to have there also his choreograph Salome Brunner. But Zmievskaya said no. What needed Lambiel to do then? Be reasonable?

In primul rand e Brian, apoi Tommy, Daisuke, Evan, Adrian, Davydov, Kevin, Lutai, Voronov, Weir, Berntsson, etc.

Declaratia lui Mishin despre retragerea lui Stephy(si Buttle):

"Buttle’s and Lambiel’s retirement is a very significant moment in world’s figure skating. But they are completely different kind of losses. Buttle’s departure didn’t awake in me specific sadness and compassion. He is a good skater of course, but not a genius. But Lambiel’s departure is a huge loss. Stéphane is outstanding artist, genial spinner and he was suffocated with ISU contemporary rules. His departure awakes in me sadness, it’s like a musician who feels the loss of colleague interpreter."
