Italian Davide Sanguinetti beat David Nalbandian of Argentina 6-1, 6-2 Monday in the first round of the Rogers Cup. The 34-year-old Sanguinetti had to go through qualifying last week to make the main draw. Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia defeated Nicolas Almagro of Spain 7-5, 6-1 to the delight of vocal, flag-waving fans from the Toronto-area Croatian community.
