<p><strong>Ferrari-Pilot Michael Schumacher ist in der Qualifikation für den Großen Preis von Frankreich auf die Pole-Position gefahren. </strong>Der Rekord-Weltmeister war am Samstag in Magny-Cours mit 1:15,493 Minuten etwas schneller als sein zweitplazierter Teamkollege Felipe Massa aus Brasilien (1:15,510 Minuten). Dritter wurde Weltmeister Fernando Alonso aus Spanien im Renault (1:15,785 Minuten). Für Michael Schumacher war es die 68. Pole-Position der Formel-1-Karriere. Ralf Schumacher im Toyota kam auf Rang fünf. Nick Heidfeld (Mönchengladbach) kam im BMW-Sauber nicht über Rang 12 hinaus.
