Afobe signs professional terms with Arsenal
Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Benik Afobe has signed professional terms with the Club.

England Youth International striker, Benik, who turned 17 ten days ago, signed for Arsenal as a scholar last summer, but has been with the Gunners since he was eight years old, having progressed through the Club’s Hale End Academy.

Benik already has an impressive pedigree at Under-18 level – scoring 11 goals in just 13 appearances last season as a schoolboy, and has been prolific this campaign for Steve Bould’s side, scoring 12 times from his 17 matches.
Everyone at the Club is looking forward to Benik’s continued contribution and development with Arsenal in the forthcoming years.

Things that will happen in the next 24 hours, or have already happened

1. Wenger and Cesc talking about how teams are overly physical, and referees don't care (already happened)

2. Various "experts" will say it was a 50/50, no intent, and that it was barely a yellow card (tune in to MOTD later for this)

3. Wenger will talk about how this type of stuff has to be eliminated from the game

4. The various experts previously mentioned will comment that its typical Arsenal and typical Wenger always moaning about something

5. Managers of teams with no talent will talk about how they can't compete skill wise, so they have to resort to violence.

6. Everyone will again call us soft and say we lack "steel" and a "strong spine" to stand up to these challenges.

7. We'll win the league for Aaron. (this will take more than 24 hours)

Incet incet toate se implinesc :) .

Robin van Persie returns to Arsenal training

• Striker back after five months out with an ankle injury
• Dutchman could play Champions League semi-finals
Robin van Persie returns to Arsenal to join full training this week. Having missed nearly five months of the season with serious ankle damage sustained on international duty with Holland, the striker is ready to rejoin his team-mates and attempt to regain match fitness before the end of the season.

"We sent our fitness coach to Holland where he has been doing his rehabilitation and we are told he looks very sharp," said the manager, Arsène Wenger, after Arsenal's 2-0 win over West Ham. "He will be back this week but we have to wait at least a month."

If Van Persie is able to get back on the pitch in a month, he would be available to help his team for at least three Premier League matches. Arsenal play Manchester City at the Emirates on 24 April, then visit Blackburn, and end their campaign with a home game against Fulham. There is also the possibility of their fixture at Tottenham being rescheduled, subject to how their north London rivals get on in their FA Cup semi-final replay.

If Arsenal progress in the Champions League, the Dutchman would also be in contention to play around the time of the semi-finals. Van Persie scored eight goals in 15 appearances before his injury last November.

Chamak isi ia ramas bun .

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has confirmed he will join Arsenal at the end of the season and revealed he rejected offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Chamakh, 26, is out of contract this summer and it has long been assumed he will move to Emirates Stadium, with Arsène Wenger saying last month that there was a "good chance" he would arrive.

"I am delighted to become part of the English football atmosphere," Chamakh told L'Equipe. "It is something amazing.

"Arsenal were not alone [in making an offer]. There were approaches from Liverpool, Tottenham and crazy offers from Russia that were much bigger than those from England, but I was focused on playing in the Premier League.

"Bordeaux offered me a contract extension that was almost impossible to refuse, financially - the figures were very close to those offered by Arsenal.

"I have always loved Arsenal's football. I know I will have to adapt, but I have experience of playing the short passing game from working with Yoann Gourcuff."

He added: "I am counting down the days - 11 short days. As time passes, it feels strange. I am experiencing many emotions."

Chamakh claims he would have agreed to prolong his deal at Bordeaux had they not delayed in offering him an extension.

"They should have offered me something a year earlier," he said. "I think the club and I did not understand each other. It was clear to me that if they did not extend my contract in 2009, I would have the right to leave, but then they blocked my move. I didn't take that well."

He added: "It's true that I almost cracked [and signed a new deal] but, in February, I made my decision. It would be illogical to sign a new contract with a release clause after refusing Arsenal last summer."

Chamakh, who has been with Bordeaux since the age of ten, feels he is now ready to deliver in the Premier League.

"At Bordeaux, I was the club's child," he said. "In London, I won't be a kid anymore. I have grown, I have things to prove and I am motivated to achieve them."

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Moroccan international striker Marouane Chamakh has joined the Gunners on a long-term contract.

Chamakh (26), who joins Arsenal from French side Bordeaux, made a total of 293 appearances, scoring 79 goals during his eight years with Les Girondins.

In the 2008/09 league campaign, Chamakh scored 14 goals, helping Bordeaux win the French League title, thus ending Lyon’s seven-year domination of Ligue 1. The Moroccan striker’s fine form continued last season, playing an integral role in helping Bordeaux reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they finished above both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the Group Stages.

Born and raised in France, but playing international football for Morocco through his parentage, Chamakh has made 53 appearances for the north African country, scoring 27 goals, and was part of the side which reached the Final of the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: “We are delighted that Marouane Chamakh has joined us. He is a player we have admired for some time now and I know he will provide our squad with great quality. Chamakh has proved he is a great player with his performances for Bordeaux and Morocco in recent seasons and we’re all looking forward to him joining us.

"Chamakh is a striker of real quality and has all the attributes suited to come to England and do very well. He is also a fighter, not only a good football player, but a fighter as well. He is very good in the air and also a good team player. He is a great addition to our squad.”

After completing his move to the Gunners, Chamakh said: “This is a dream come true and a great joy to be joining Arsenal. My goal was always to play in the Premier League and Arsenal was the choice of my heart.

“Without any hesitation, Arsenal was my preferred club. The team and history of Arsenal, they make me dream. My goal was to join Arsenal out of the all the English clubs because it is a club that makes me dream and I have been a fan since I was a child.

“I’m very excited about playing at Emirates Stadium in front of the Arsenal supporters. I have heard many great things about the stadium and I cannot wait to be playing there in an Arsenal shirt.

“I will give my best to this Club, the Club that I used to support. We have many great players at Arsenal and I will be giving everything to help the team win trophies next season.”

Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive of Arsenal Football Club added: “Arsène has been following the progress of Marouane Chamakh for some time and has identified him as a player that will add significant strength to our squad. We’re delighted that Marouane has chosen Arsenal ahead of the many other clubs that were interested in him.”

Chamakh, who will wear the number 29 shirt for Arsenal, will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training in July.

Bine ai venit Chamakh ! :D

Arsenal's Mikael Silvestre is keen on a move to the United Arab Emirates and could join Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira, according to the Daily Mail.

Silvestre, 32, reportedly has an offer from CSKA Moscow already on the table but the Frenchman is seeking further talks in UAE after seemingly being offered a £4 million deal.

If he does sign for Al Jazira the Arsenal defender would follow Italian centre-back Fabio Cannavaro to the UAE League this summer.

The news could come as a blow for Arsenal who are currently on the hunt for defensive reinforcements, with William Gallas and Sol Campbell possibly on their way out of the Emirates.

Aaron Ramsey’s rapid road to recovery from his horrific double leg break has seen the Arsenal midfielder resume running for the first time.

Ramsey, who shattered his right leg in a clash with Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross, is four months into a long-term rehab programme.

But the Welshman, 19, has been able to step up work and has even started light training. Wales assistant boss Dean Saunders said: “Aaron is running now and just needs the pin taken out at some stage.

“That’s a decision he will make soon when he’s ready, but from what I’ve heard he’s progressing brilliantly and it shouldn’t be too long.

“It’s important for him, Arsenal and Wales to get back playing as he’s a great talent who should be showing us that on the football pitch.”

Only one victim and it's Eduardo

Eduardo is now certain to leave Arsenal this summer after being told he is no longer part of Arsène Wenger's plans.

This is the horribly depressing yet sadly inevitable denouement to the events of February 23, 2008, when a tackle by Martin Taylor, a central defender then with Birmingham City, broke and dislocated his left leg. Eduardo has never been the same player since.

He was just beginning to adapt to English football when the injury happened, and had scored 12 goals in his first season. His quality was not in doubt, though, particularly to those who saw first hand his contribution to Croatia's successful qualifying campaign for the 2008 European Championship.

Taylor's tackle, for which he was sent off, did not end Eduardo's career, but it certainly changed its course. When it happened, though, there was a lot of sympathy for the defender, a lot of feeling that there were two victims here. Taylor did not mean it, we were told. He had an outstanding record for fair play.

When Taylor left Birmingham for Watford less than a year later, it was even argued that his career had never recovered from causing Eduardo's injury.

Yet Taylor always was a journeyman central defender who, at 29, had found his level after a career that had also taken in Blackburn Rovers, Darlington, Stockport County and Norwich City. Had he been considered Premier League class he would have done better than Watford.

Eduardo, by contrast, was once world class, although it is considered unlikely he will hit that mark again. He has lost confidence and momentum; he looks milky, as the professionals would say, a euphemism that requires no explanation.

So, however unintentional the effect, the cause of this tiny tragedy is clear. As is the identity of the real victim: because there was always only one.

Laurent Koscielny enjoyed his first training session with Arsenal this afternoon, according to French newspaper Ouest France. The centre back joined in with Arsenal’s Reserves and Youth players, who returned to training last week.

The defender joins the Gunners after a fee of around €12 million euros plus potential add on’s was agreed two weeks ago. The agreement also includes a youth link up with FC Lorient, with training methods and young players set to be exchanged between the two clubs.

Koscielny is said to have trained alongside fellow new signings Kyle Ebecilio and Philip Roberts, with the first-team players not yet back for training. Confirmation of Laurent’s transfer is expected shortly, with Lorient announcing his replacement this morning. However, the Gunners are also yet to confirm Francis Coquelin’s loan move to the Les Merlus.

Wenger was in France last night working as co-commentator on TF1's coverage of the first World Cup semi-final between the Netherlands and Uruguay. The Gunners coach confirmed to colleagues off-camera that the Koscielny deal was done and dusted.

David Astorga, a well-known face to viewers of weekly programme Telefoot and viewers of TF1's coverage of the France national side, confirmed the news on his Twitter page last night.

"Info Arsène. The transfer of Koscielny from Lorient to Arsenal will be announced tomorrow," he wrote.

Koscielny, who was playing for second-tier French outfit Tours just a year ago, believes that his move to the Premier League can put him in contention for a place in Laurent Blanc's new-look France line-up.

Arsenal have spoken to the agent of Benfica defender Rafik Halliche, according to reports in France. The 23-year-old is currently on holiday after featuring for Algeria at the World Cup, but a meeting has been planned with the players agent to discuss his availability in the coming days.

Halliche joined Benfica after impressing for Algerian outfit Hussein Dey, and is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most promising young centre backs. The Portuguese outfit sent him on loan to Nacional for two seasons to gain vital experience, and although he sustained some niggling injuries, Rafik largely impressed.

Arsène Wenger has been commentating on Algeria’s matches during this World Cup, and instructed an official to seek talks with the appropriate representatives. Now, according to sources close to Chronofoot.com, Arsenal have booked Halliche’s agent into a hotel room in North London and want to hold further talks regarding a potential transfer.

It’s thought that the powerful centre half would join fellow youngster Håvard Nordtveit in battling for a first-team place, should the Gunners decide to press on with a bid.

ARSENAL are eyeing the Algerian defender who put the World Cup block on Wayne Rooney.
Boss Arsene Wenger is mulling over a £4million bid for Benfica's Rafik Halliche, 23, who starred in the goalless draw with England in South Africa.

Wenger has been impressed by the powerful centre-half especially after releasing William Gallas, Sol Campbell, Philippe Senderos and Mikael Silvestre.

The move comes just 24 hours after wrapping up the £8.5m signing of Laurent Koscielny from French club Lorient. And Wenger said: "It's not over - we are still open to buy."

"There was too much talk," the Arsenal manager told Sky Sports News.

"I always said that we are really, really wanting him to stay as he is such an important player for us.

"He's our captain, we want to keep him and that's why we are not listening to any offers.

"It just was not a problem of money, just the desire to keep him at the club.

"It is stopped (the talk). We never wanted to start anyway."

"I have spoken to him, of course, but I never come out publicly with what we talk about.

"There was a lot of unneeded talk that was not helpful for Arsenal Football Club and that's why I don't think we have to add anything to that.

"I know what is important for us. Arsenal Football Club is a massive club and what is important is that everybody focuses on being successful next season."

Arsène Wenger has indicated there is little chance of Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer joining Arsenal and confirmed William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre will move on.

Arsenal have been linked with a £4 million move for Schwarzer, 37, after having reportedly had a £2 million offer rejected.

When asked whether he was interested in a deal, though, Wenger said: "Not really. We are still looking at various situations, but I would not like to come out on any individuals.

"At the moment, in pre-season, there is no number one - you have to give a chance to everyone to show how good he is. You cannot decide that today."

Lukasz Fabianski played in goal for the 4-0 friendly win at Barnet on Saturday, with Manuel Almunia absent due to illness.

Wenger also said defenders Gallas and Silvestre, out of contract this summer, will play elsewhere next season, while he remains unsure whether Sol Campbell will stay on.

"I believe that Gallas and Silvestre will sign somewhere else," Wenger said. "Sol Campbell is still in no man's land at the moment."

Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that the stands at Emirates Stadium are to be re-named for the start of the new Premier League season.

As part of the overall ‘Arsenalisation' process currently taking place at Emirates Stadium, the Club has decided to re-introduce the names of the stands from Arsenal's old stadium, Highbury.

From the first home Premier League match of the 2010/2011 season against Blackpool on Saturday 21st August, the stands at Emirates Stadium will be known as: Clock End, North Bank, East Stand and West Stand.

The existing quadrant colours on all maps and directional signage will be changed in time for the Blackpool match, to recognise the re-naming of the stands; and fans purchasing tickets for the match on Saturday 21st August, will also notice the relevant changes.

The Club is also proud to announce that new Clock End, which is at the south of the stadium, opposite the new North Bank, will be the home for a new Clock inside Emirates Stadium from next season.

Supporters will be able to see the new Clock in the stadium from the Emirates Cup, but the Club is planning an ‘official welcoming' for the new Clock before the Blackpool match to commemorate this historic moment.

These developments are part of the process currently taking place at the stadium called ‘Arsenalisation', in which the Club's rich history is being celebrated through illustrating key players and moments through many initiatives, which are turning Emirates Stadium into a very visible stronghold of all things Arsenal.

All supporters are reminded that the new stand names and associated maps will come into effect from the Blackpool match on Saturday 21st August. Therefore, the existing quadrants will remain for both days of the Emirates Cup.

Further information concerning the new Clock at Emirates Stadium will feature soon on Arsenal.com

Sol Campbell is set to shun offers from elsewhere and remain at Arsenal for another season, according to a report from The Sun.

The ex-England international is understood to have received offers from Celtic, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United but is believed to want to remain at the Emirates.

Campbell played for the second half of last season for the Gunners after signing a short-term deal in January.

He performed well, and manager Arsène Wenger apparently hinted after this week's pre-season friendly against Sturm Graz that the centre-back could yet stay at the club.

ARSENAL are lining up a 5.5million move for Italy World Cup keeper Federico Marchetti.
His Cagliari club president Massimo Cellino said last night: "Marchetti has expressed his desire to leave.

"The only real club pushing for his signature is Arsenal and we will do everything to make him happy."

Wenger has targeted another keeper after losing faith with Spaniard Manuel Almunia.

The Arsenal boss is confident he can land Marchetti, 27, now his transfer request has been granted by Cagliari.

Wenger has turned to him after a 2m bid for Fulham veteran Mark Schwarzer was rejected.

Marchetti said: "My characteristics are based on strength but courage and understanding of your abilities are the basis for success."

Wenger: 'Only Fabregas can clear the air'

On whether today's game was the workout he expected...
"Completely, it was a good test for us. We came back from a hard-working [training] camp and you could see some legs were not completely refreshed and recovered. But what was good is that it was a good test for the players we've brought in and the young players and overall for the team. We struggled a bit in the last 20 minutes because we shuffled the team around a little bit, but overall for 70 minutes we looked solid defensively and dangerous going forward."

On Marouane Chamakh's Emirates Stadium debut...
"He had a good first game. He had a good presence and intelligence and I believe him and Koscielny did well."

On whether the two new boys have the ‘Arsenal' mould...
"We wanted a player up front who could play for the team, works hard and can play in different combinations. At the back we were looking for somebody who is calm, can play out from the back and read the game well. Of course it's only one game but their attitude in training is very good and they can only improve."

On the goalkeeping situation...
"Almunia will play tomorrow. Fabianski did well today, you can't fault him for the goal and he did everything else well. The only thing is there wasn't much command on the free kick [which led to the goal]. From the outside it looked as if no-one took charge of the organisation and that's a little bit down to goalkeeper. But overall he had a good game."

On the point that the back five could be quite unfamiliar with each other...
"It is a concern because we want to be defensively solid. The six players that played today looked solid defensively. When I say it's a concern, there was lack of communication on the free kick, not a lack of quality."

On continued Mark Schwarzer rumours...
"There are a lot of things I don't master in football and the rumours are one of these things."

On Emmanuel Frimpong and Jack Wilshere's performances...
"It's very positive for Arsenal that two 18-year-old players did well in battles against more experienced players. Of course sometimes they have a lack of experience but they both have individual qualities and are fighters. They are not scared of anybody, they put their foot in and really good for it in challenges, in a good way."

On whether he will send Wilshere out on loan again...
"I think I will keep him. He was at Bolton and they wanted to keep him again and I'm sure if I went out looking, I could find clubs. It's difficult to say how many games he will play because it depends on injuries, which you can't plan around. Also you don't want to give a restricted target to a player. He can play wide and in the middle, behind the striker and also deep, which is interesting. He should get a few games."
On Celtic's line-up tomorrow...
"I don't expect them to play with their best 11 because they have a decisive Champions League game next week. It will be tough for them but they have to try. Though it won't affect my team selection. I will have to consult the medical department tomorrow and I may have to protect a few but I will play my strongest team."

On Aaron Ramsey's recovery...
"He started to have a very little jog last week but no ball work as of yet. Short term he will not be available, he will be available again this season but if he is back in November he will have done well. Let's count three months from today."

On reports he recently met with Cesc Fabregas...
"I cannot confirm nor deny anything. In the last six months, this story has made our lives difficult. At the moment, what is important is that when Cesc comes back, that he comes out. For me, I have nothing more to add. The conversations with the players have to be private because I cannot come out every time I speak with a player."

On whether Arsenal's players are fed up with the Fabregas speculation...
"Well in fairness I said many times the noises come back a lot from Spain and are translated here. I believe it is in the interest of the Premier League that all the big clubs keep their best players and for the reputation of the Premier League [it is important that] the best players play in this country."

On whether Barcelona have a case to answer on allegations of ‘tapping-up'...
"They [Barcelona] certainly have a case to answer, but it is always the same - how can you prove it?"

On Carles Puyol's recent comments...
"Puyol is responsible for his own statements, which is why I have said before that only Fabregas can clear the air when he comes back from holiday. Puyol has to look after his own affairs and leave the rest to Cesc Fabregas."

On whether he will 'put Fabregas on show' when he returns...
"[He returns on] August 5. There is no show. There is football. The only show in football is to play good football in the matches. Cesc does that as well as everybody else. What can I say about that? I cannot master what is written in the newspapers, I can only master our decisions and that is it. Cesc has five years to go and that is it."

On why he feels Fabregas has to come out and clear the air...
"Because the speculation does not stop. Who can stop the speculation? Only Cesc maybe, I don't know, maybe not even Cesc. But that is how I feel. We cannot go into a season where everyday you read about that. He has not played today and I sit here and speak about Fabregas.

On reports that Barcelona won't give up on Fabregas until the transfer window closes...
"Barcelona has given up for a long time. Who is Barca? You say to me 'Barca has not given up', what does that mean? Who is the person who says they do not give up? The newspapers? The newspapers do not make those decisions. I told you yesterday what will happen - Fabregas will stay here."

On whether his thinking is influenced by the home-grown player rule...
"I play the players I believe have the quality. We have, not by coincidence but by hard work, a good English generation. Today you did not see Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, who has quality. That is why I play them - because they are good, not because of the rule. I gave Wilshere to Bolton last year and Frimpong played well in pre-season, that is why I played him. It is not linked with the rule. Players like Fabregas, for example, are home-grown."

On whether Emmanuel Frimpong is likely to go on loan...
"No. I want to keep him."

Bun interviu!

Fabregas and Wenger held a lengthy meeting at the club’s London Colney training base on Wednesday afternoon at which it was resolved that he would definitely not be securing a move to Barcelona this summer.

The 23 year-old was then a visible presence at the open training session for fans and he also took his seat in the centre of the club’s official team photograph for next season. A statement to confirm his commitment to Arsenal is expected imminently

Manager Arsene Wenger set to sign new Arsenal deal

De bine ,de rau?

Sir. Eko
15th August 2010, 14:07
Arsène Wenger has revealed that the keeper who starts against Liverpool on Sunday will be Arsenal's No 1.

At the start of pre-season the manager laid down the gauntlet to his four stoppers, stating that the place was up for grabs.

Manuel Almunia, Lukasz Fabianski, Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny have all featured in friendlies this summer and Arsenal fans are close to finding out who will be the Gunners' No 1.

"The goalkeepers are great, all ready to play," said Wenger ahead of the trip to Liverpool. "I just wait for my decision and you will get it soon.

"The guy who plays on Sunday will be No 1. It is never for definite but it will be a consequence of what I have seen in pre-season."

However, the manager has admitted that handing the gloves to Szczesny would be a 'great gamble'.

"He has not played one game in the Premier League," he said. "I believe he has huge quality but I believe it would be a great gamble to play him.

"Man United play with a goalkeeper who is 40 years old and Chelsea with a keeper with seven years in the Premier League. You need experience at the back."

La prima gafa care o sa ne coste puncte o sa fiu primul care sare Wenger OUT!

Squillaci next Gunner

Looking for an experienced central defender capable of supervising Laurent Koscielny, Thomas Vermaelen and Johan Djourou, Arsenal is about to engage the French international Sebastien Squillaci. Sevilla defender, arrived in Andalusia in 2008, was not on Wednesday night the match against Braga (0-1) in the Champions League. At 30 years, the former Monaco and Lyon player should sign in the coming hours, a three-year contract with the club coached by Arsène Wenger.

Arsenal are in talks with Sevilla over defender Sébastien Squillaci, according to respected French news outlet Canal+. If the transfer goes through, defender Håvard Nordtveit will be made available for loan.

Squillaci was left out of the Sevilla squad for tonight’s Champions League clash with Sporting Braga amid firm reports in France that Arsenal are planning to snap up the experienced Frenchman. Arsène Wenger had told Nordtveit earlier in the summer he wouldn’t be part of the first-team, but with defensive recruitment’s failing to come to fruition, he had allowed the 19-year-old to stay with the first-team.

However, if the Gunners can wrap up a deal for Squillaci, Wenger will listen to loan offers for the prospect.

More to follow.

Emmanuel Frimpong will be out for "six to nine months" after injuring his cruciate knee ligaments in training this week.

The powerful 18-year-old midfielder figured heavily in pre-season and according to Arsène Wenger, was likely to see first-team action during the campaign. Unsurprisingly he described the news as "a massive blow" when he spoke to TV Online on Thursday.

This comes a day after it was announced that Samir Nasri underwent surgery on his own knee problem. Thankfully he will be out for just a matter of weeks.

"Samir's injury is a blow for us and a blow for France aswell," said Wenger. "He was continuing his natural progression and had a very good pre-season.

"But we have had another blow with Emmanuel Frimpong. He has done his cruciate in training. That is a massive blow. A cartilage is three to four weeks but a cruciate like that one Frimpong did yesterday is six to nine months.

"I rate him highly and I still have a lot of faith in him but we will miss him for six to nine months."

Bag ****

Samir had minor surgery on his knee on Wednesday, August 18 following a meniscal injury sustained during the match against Liverpool. He is expected to be out for one month.

Defender Sebastien Squillaci will travel to London today in order to pass Monday a medical with Arsenal

Sir. Eko
24th August 2010, 10:57
"For me, this is a great new challenge. I've gone there purely to be part of that. I have played in France and Spain, been successful and now I want to achieve that in the Premier League.

"If a French player receives an offer from Arsène Wenger it's practically impossible to turn down.

"I looked at Arsenal and they were always the team I watched out for. For any spectator like me you had to watch a squad with Henry, Pires, Vieira and Gallas. Now I'm happy to have my name in the history books.

"I can guarantee I will always work hard, play with a lot of effort and try everything to be successful.

"I've watched Arsenal's last two games on the television and I know they have the squad to win titles.

"I don't think my age is a problem. My experience in football is great and players of my age tend to be at the peak of their playing career."

Has Sébastien Squillaci had the longest medical in footballing history?

Apparently this was done early on Monday and he should have completed the deal “all being well” straight after that, as the transfer fee and personal terms have already been agreed.

So whats the hold up?

Some rumours floating around on twitter (below)

“Squillaci has failed the medical and will have a 2nd medical within the next 24hrs”

“Just seen Squillaci talking to Avi Grant in some sauna in East Ham”

“The move has been hijacked by Pompey who have offered Squillaci more wages then Arsenal”

“Wenger has pulled the plug on the deal after he noticed that Squallaci was not as tall in real life”

“I work at London City Airport and I have just seen Toto Squallaci flying out to Italy, I take it the Arsenal deal is off?”

“The delay in confirming the signing is due to the letter “Q” not being available in the Armoury and that Arsenal Expect the delivery to arrive tomorrow”

Sébastien Squillaci returns to Sevilla!!
Well I'm afraid I have some bad news for you Gooners.

Sébastien Squillaci has returned to Sevilla. The good news is he will return to London on Sunday.

I don't have a reason for his return to Spain but I would imagine it is to tie up loose end before he moves to England. I would have thought he would have only brought an overnight bag with him when he came to London Colney on Monday for his medical. Therefore he would need to return to pick up some of his possessions before his return to London.

So that is probably why we are yet to hear from the club officially on the completion of his signing.

There is now no chance that the French defender will be involved against Blackburn on Saturday and Arsène Wenger will chose between Laurent Koscielny, Alex Song and Johan Djourou to partner Thomas Vermaelen in defence.

The manager will no doubt be asked about the deal at his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Ewood Park tomorrow.

As I said yesterday, when Squillaci does eventually sign, he will wear the number 18 shirt.

Dureaza prea mult,sa nu se intample ceva rau...

Sevilla deja l-a luat pe Alexis, de la Valencia, in locul lui Squillaci, asa ca mai mult ca sigur francezul va semna cu voi...
