Hoping to quiet critics of bringing the first World Cup to Africa, South African president Thabo Mbeki promises his country will be prepared for the world's biggest sporting event in 2010. He likened doubters to those who believed the country would never rid itself of apartheid. "The same skeptics are now doubtful about the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa," Mbeki said Friday.
