Serbo-Montenegrin Round 25 Overview

The 25th round of Serbo-Montenegrin championship haven't brought us a single result that would represent a surprise. Both Belgrade giants Crvena zvezda and Partizan signed in all three points, and by now even the “Crno-Beli” have realized that Walter Zenga and “Crveno-beli” will snatch the title this year. At Marakana, this Saturday, Crvena zvezda welcomed the solid team of FK Smederevo and won 2:0. The only scorer of the match was the host's winter signing Nenad Milijas. Meanwhile Partizan Beograd played an away match against FK Vozdovac and the Cameroonian Pierre Boya for the first time after couple months signed his name in the score-sheet, contributing to “Crno-beli'' 3:1 win with two goals. In the two derby duels of the ''midtable'', Vojvodina defeated FK Zemun 2:1, while OFK Beograd and Zeta Golubovci shared a point each after playing a goalless draw. Now, C.zvezda stands first with 65pts, Partizan is second with seven points less while Vozdovac guards the third position with 43pts. Zeta, Hajduk, Vojvodina and OFK Beograd are bellow and all these teams are in the range to finish the season behind C.zvezda and Partizan. Overall that is currently the only interesting issue in the Serbo-Montenegrin top flight when already it's obvious how the trophy will be handed to C.zvezda.

OFK Beograd approach the upper part of the grid(JadranSport)

At the beginning of this season OFK Beograd was the one and only team that looked strong and talented enough to oppose the Belgrade giants Partizan and Crvena zvezda. They managed to hold the first position during the most of the season's Fall Part but then their form fell and they ended up in the mid-table. After this weekend, with just four rounds to go, the “Romanticari” capped a spot in the UEFA Cup by advancing to the SCG Cup Finals and and a win 2:1 against Hajduk Kula in the 26th Round thanks to which they are now fourth in the championship with solid chances to finish third. Meanwhile Crvena zvezda whose officials are hoping to bag a double-crown under their Italian chief Walter Zenga played a tough match in Ivanjica against Javor. The home side took the lead through Obiora Odita who came to Ivanjica on a loan from C.zvezda's arch rival Partizan ranks, but the guest best player Nikola Zigic netted two goals in the second half and ensured ''Crveno-beli'' all three points.Partizan Beograd also won. The “Crno-Beli'' played a match against the always uncomfortable team Borac Cacak (1:0). The scorer of the only goal at the former JNA stadium was Danko Lazovic who's probably going to leave Jurgen Rober's crew this summer and return to Feyenoord in order to join Den Hag.In other interesting games of this round, FK Smederevo who's fighting for survival in the top flight lost at home ground from third placed Vozdovac. The hosts took the lead when Nikolic found a way to place the ball behind the guest keeper in the first half, but Kalajdzic and Marinkovic turned around the score and Vozdovac signed in all three points. It's interesting that Vozdovac although third on the table, isn't going to play in any European Cup because they didn't sign up for it.Therefore the club who's going to finish the championship on the fifth position is going to take their place in the UEFA Cup (under condition that OFK Beograd stays fourth or advances to third position). At this moment that is Vojvodina which played a 1:1 draw in Bijelo Polje with Jedinstvo.
