Openul Chinezesc face parte din cele 8 turnee din circuitul profesionist, contand pt puncte in clasamentul general al jucatorilor.

Competitia a fost introdusa in sezonul 2004/05, datorita interesului crescut pe jocul de snooker din China, motiv pt care a fost introdusa o etapa de extra-wildcards, care permite primilor 16 jucatori chinezi din clasamentul national sa`si arate abilitatile.

Turneul se desfasoara in Beijing, pe Haidian Stadium, la sfarsitul lui martie-inceputul lui aprilie, fiind ultimul turneu inainte de inceperea Campionatului Mondial, cu toate ca sesiunile de calificare au loc in decembrie.

Openul chinezesc s`a mai desfasurat si intre 1995/96 si 2001/02, cu o pauza in sezonul 1997/98, sub denumirea China International, Asian Classic sau Thailand Classic.

Ronnie pare hotarat sa castige penultimul turneu al sezonului; se pare ca si`a invatzat `lectia` de anul trecut, cand a refuzat sa se prezinte in competitie, pe motiv ca este bolnav...

"It's my ambition to play the best in their own backyard. I'd like to play Ding in China and do the business.

"Even though the crowd wants you to get beaten it's good to be involved in matches like that"

Last year's event saw more than a 100 million Chinese television viewers tune in to see Ding beat Peter Ebdon, Ken Doherty and Stephen Hendry and capture the trophy.

"I've played Stephen Hendry in Scotland, Mark Williams in Wales and Ken Doherty in Ireland.

"I played James Wattana in Thailand where they even cheered when he went to the toilet - but I've been victorious each time."
