Mats Sundin, capitanul nationalei Suediei si a Toronto Maple Leafs, a semnat un nou contract cu TML pe doi ani, in valoare de US$5.5M.
A declarat ca de data asta s-a gandit sa joace pentru o echipa cu sanse reale la castigarea Cupei Stanley in sezonul viitor.

De ceva vreme sunt zvonuri ca Jim Balsillie, seful de la RIM (Research In Motion) - firma producatoare a binecunoscutelor Blackberry, ar vrea sa aduca la Kitchener/Waterloo, On., pe Nashville Predators.
Dupa ce anul trecut nu a reusit sa-i cumpere pe Pinguini, se pare ca anul acesta a ajuns la un deal cu Predators, cam $220 million (U.S.).
Zvonuri sunt ca a cumparat un teren de 26 acrii (10 ha) in Waterloo unde va construi o noua arena pentru echipa, pana atunci se pare ca au ajuns la un acord de a juca in Hamilton, On.
Se pare ca vor trebui sa acorde ceva compensatii catre TML si Buffalo Sabres, pentru ca franciza va fii oarecum in zona de exclusivitate a celor doua cluburi, 50 miles.
Se asteapta inca aprobarea oficiala de la NHL.
S-a anuntat ca deja se pot depune cereri (insotite de un deposit de $500) pentru season tickets in Hamilton.

Imi pare rau dar de la mine veti auzi doar stiri legate de Ducks...nu prea am timp sa citesc tot ce sa intampla...mai aud asa din cand in cand si de alte echipe daca sunt chestii majore. Deci, din lista de 8 free agents pe care v-am mai aratat-o au semnat noi contra sapt asta Moen si Parros. Si antrenorul si-a extins contractul inca un an.

Both Higgins and Komisarek will earn $1.5 million in 2007-08 and $1.9 million in 2008-09.

Higgins, 24, registered 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points in 61 games, with 26 penalty minutes, last season.
Komisarek, 25, completed his fourth NHL season in 2006-07, where he reached personal highs in games played (82), goals (4), assists (15) and points (19).

The Ducks announced today that they have signed defenseman Shane Hnidy to a two-year contract. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.



Hnidy, 31 (9/8/75), played in 72 games last season with the Atlanta Thrashers, scoring 5-7=12 points with a +15 rating. He set NHL single-season highs in games, goals, assists and plus/minus. The 6-2, 210-pound defenseman has played in 336 career NHL games with Ottawa, Nashville and Atlanta, scoring 9-28=37 points with a +18 career rating. Hnidy has also played in 23 career NHL playoff games, scoring 2-1=3 points.

The Anaheim Ducks have declined to match the Edmonton Oilers' five-year, $21.25 million offer sheet for winger Dustin Penner. As a result, Penner becomes property of the Oilers while the Ducks receive the Oilers' first, second and third round picks as compensation. Last season, Penner scored 29 goals and added 16 assists for 45 points in 82 games. In the Ducks' run to the Stanley Cup, he scored three goals and added five assists for eight points in 21 playoff games.

The NHL and the NHL Players' Association are making serious strides toward a new labor agreement.

"We're going to continue to talk up until we get a deal," said the Toronto Maple Leafs' Larry Tanenbaum, one of the six owners directly involved in ongoing talks with a group of players. "That's all I'm going to say."

Asked if there is now more clarity in where each side stands, Tanenbaum said: "Absolutely."
