<p><strong>Joseph S. Blatter ist auf dem 57. Ordentlichen Kongress des Fußball-Weltverbandes Fifa per Akklamation in seinem Amt bestätigt worden und tritt eine bis 2011 befristete dritte Amtszeit an. </strong>Der 71-jährige Walliser, der seit 1998 an der Spitze der FIFA steht, war der einzige Kandidat. Zuvor hatte Blatter gegen Lennart Johansson (Schweden/1998 in Paris) und Issa Hayatou (Kamerun/2002 in Seoul) jeweils Kampfabstimmungen zu seinen Gunsten entschieden. Franz Beckenbauer ist auf dem 57. FIFA-Kongress als europäisches Mitglied in das Exekutivkomitee des Fußball-Weltverbandes (FIFA) aufgenommen worden.
