Greek League title will be decided in Lausanne
Lausanne, 15 April 2008 – The Greek football club, Apollon Kalamarias, has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) and another Greek football club, Olympiakos FC, with respect to a decision of the Hellenic Football Federation Appeal Committee dated 5 March 2008. The dispute arises from a match played between Apollon Kalamarias FC and Olympiacos FC, during which Apollon Kalamarias FC apparently fielded an ineligible player, resulting in a sanction against Apollon Kalamarias FC. As a consequence, Olympiakos was awarded the match that they had lost on the pitch.
In addition to its appeal, Apollon Kalamarias FC has filed a request for urgent provisional measures in this case. A hearing will be convened at the CAS Court Office in Lausanne on 17 April 2008, to hear the parties’ arguments regarding the request of Apollon Kalamarias FC for the granting of provisional measures. This hearing will be held in private and will not be open to the public.
